I really love this camera!
The pluses are as follows:
Great feel to the camera. Handles superbly.
Fast auto-focus and great metering system.
Lots of custom settings to explore and possibility to adjust every aspect of the photo.
Good preset settings and useful child mode.
Gets you into the Nikon system.
Great flash sync ability. However built in flash doesn't act as a commander - I don't think.
Compatability with older Nikon lenses.
Flash system works with Nikons latest and greatest flash/strobe system (with the sb 800 and sb 600 can get professional looking results.)
Picture qualityis superb but depends more on the photographer than the camera.
Downsides are I guess lack of a second command wheel (although not a big deal for me).
You'll want to spend money on lenses and a flash/strobe system.
In all this is my perfect camera. It gets me into creative photography and also the Nikon system. Actually I've spent more money on lenses and flashes than the camera cost. So the low price of the camera saves you enough money to get the sb 800 flash or another lens.
I don't think it's possible to be dissatisfied with this camera it offers all the possibilities.
Also you can view Exif data on the camera when viewing images.
Problems
None so far. Fingers crossed.
The Digital Revolution Has Begun...
You've stumbled upon EOSrebels.com, the site for fans of the Canon family of digital SLR cameras. This website was designed for those who have crossed over from the point-and-shoot world of digital photography into the endless possibilities of the digital single-lens reflex camera. When Canon introduced the Canon Digital Rebel 300D to the world in September 2003, it blew the doors wide open to millions around the world to digital SLR photography. The Digital Rebel was the pioneer affordable digital SLR camera priced at an accessible sub-$1000 price tag. Since then the Digital Rebel has gotten even better with the launch of the Canon Digital Rebel XT 350D in 2005. In that time, the user base of Canon photographers has exploded.
I started off with the original Canon Digital Rebel 300D and debated between upgrading to the Canon Digital Rebel XT and the Canon EOS 20D. I spent weeks researching which camera was right for me and continued to research what lenses met my needs. I found it frustrating to start from scratch and learn all the terminology and research lenses and equipment, so I decided to save everyone else some time by organizing the content and putting it all in once place. I created this site to be a resource and community for beginners like myself and hope that you find the content helpful in your search of your perfect gear list.

Happy new year everyone! Upgraded forums to the latest version
of PHPBB and registering should be smooth now. Added a new section to tips for
picking the right shooting mode. Also, Amazon has been doing strange ad
testing so I apologize to my visitors for
the
offensive ad banner, they are working to fix it. Amazon is still a trusted partner and retailer of EOSrebels.com.

People have been asking to see my gear list, so I added a page with explanations for my decisions
like why I chose the EOS 20D over the Digital Rebel XT or my reasons for going with the lenses I have.
I've also added my first third-party lens, the Tamron SP 28-75mm
XR Di LD-IF lens. As well as updated the Cool Effects page in
the tips section. Whew.
